jBridge ist eine Adapter-Software für VST-Plugins für Windows XP/Vista/7/8. Mit dieser Software lassen sich VST-Plugins in verschiedenen Hosts betreiben. Dies funktioniert in jede erdenkliche Richtung:

1. 64Bit Host und 32Bit Plugin
2. 32Bit Host und 32Bit Plugin
3. 32Bit Host und 64Bit Plugin

64Bit Host und 32Bit Plugin
Der Hersteller des Plugins hat nur ein 32Bit Plugin im Angebot das leider nicht mit dem 64Bit Host kompatible und wird daher durch die jBridge-Software kompatible gemacht. Unter Cubase 5.5.1 (64Bit) kann die jBridge-Software sogar die Performance erhöhen.
Um diese Fall auszunutzen ist ein 64Bit Betriebsystem notwendig.

32Bit Host und 32Bit Plugin

In diesem Fall dient der Adapter dazu, dem VST-Plugin volle 2GB Ram zur Verfügung zu stellen. Ohne den Adapter müsste sich Host und VST-Plugin 2GB Ram gemeinsam teilen.

Der dritte Fall kommt erstens dann zum tragen, wenn es keine 32Bit Version von einem 64Bit VST-Plugin gibt, oder zweitens man mehr Ram für das VST-Plugin benötigt, als die 32Bit Version des VST-Plugins zu bieten hat. Wie im ersten Fall muss das Betriebsystem 64Bit sein. Für Cubase empfehle ich derzeitig diese Version, denn: Alle 32Bit Plugins funktionieren nativ in Cubase und die speicherhungrigen Plugins habe ich als 64Bit Version per jBridge eingebunden.

JBridge ist in der Version 1.5 erschienen. Folgende Fehler wurden behoben:

  • Reduced memory usage ( Specially relevant if you’re using a 32bit VST host )
  • Unlimited number of inputs/outputs and all buffer sizes are now supported.

  • added workaround for plugin scanning problem with Kore2.
